We are seeking a Project Engineer/Sr. Project Engineer to support diagnostic/prognostic technology development and implementation in our State College, PA office. The candidate would be hired at a level commensurate with experience.
- Design, develop, and test advanced health monitoring, diagnostic, and prognostic technologies, with specific focus on drive, control, and accessory health management for complex military and commercial systems, including military/commercial rotorcraft, wind turbines, fixed-wing aircraft, unmanned vehicles, etc.
- Integrate advanced diagnostic features, dynamic models, and fault detection, classification, and prognostic algorithms into a deployable Prognostics and Health Management (PHM) package.
- Work in an integrated team to deploy developed technology in numerous military and power applications, with an emphasis on advanced PHM for drive and propulsion systems, flight/propulsion control components, power transmission components, structures, and hydraulic systems.
- Perform advanced dynamic analysis of complex systems, including the deployment of advanced vibration analysis, frequency and time domain analyses, dynamic and static modeling, multi-level fusion, statistical analysis, automated reasoning, and other digital signal processing technologies.
- Support development of instrumentation and monitoring systems, real-time data processing, and automated algorithms pertaining to machinery diagnostics and prognostics, and support deployment of such in PC-based and embedded system health monitors.
- Interact with government and industry sponsors to understand customer needs in legacy and next generation platforms and translate into PHM system requirements and solutions. Support fielded systems as needed.
- Prepare technical proposals to DoD agencies and industrial clients. Write and present technical papers on research and development work for engineering conferences.
Required:
- MS Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Acoustics
- Vibration analysis/signal processing experience
- Familiarity with MATLAB and SIMULINK
- Highly motivated; ability to work independently
- Ability to handle responsibilities on several programs at once
- Ability to document work in well-written English
- Ability to clearly present work and ideas to peers, management, clients and the broader technical community
Desired:
- >3 years experience performing vibration analysis/signal processing of mechanical equipment and/or structures
- Knowledge of military rotorcraft and/or fixed-wing systems and maintenance practices
- Familiarity/experience with LABVIEW
- A wide skill set: candidates that have a proven record of being able to contribute to mechanical and systems level design are highly desirable
